Well, rather a lot has happened since my last letter to you!
We have relocated from Devon to our new home in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. As you might imagine after a big move, everything is a little bit chaotic. Our new home - the first we have been able to buy - is one that has been unoccupied for several years and is in desperate need of some (a lot of) TLC. All our stuff is still in boxes, the ground floor is bare concrete with a layer of asbestos and the windows whistle when the wind whips up the valley…
BUT LOOK!
I hope you can tell, Jack is settling into his new Welsh mountain life rather marvellously.
Now, if it had been entirely within my control, I would not have chosen to move house at the same time as launching my Fairy Ring hat and socks patterns, and all the mushroom goodies that came along with them. But thanks to some diligent box labelling, I managed to set up my shop on the second day here and carry on almost as though nothing had happened. This is good news for getting your orders out in time for Christmas (see below for last posting dates) but not so good for my level of tiredness from the move. So, I’ve decided that after the last Christmas post I will be taking an extended winter break until the end of January. My shop will remain open for digital downloads, and I’ll still make a video for Patreon, but I won’t ship any parcels or make any other videos. I need a little bit of time to allow the dust to settle and get to know this beautiful country I now call home.

Forest Charm Restock
In the chaos of the move some mis-counting must have happened, and I’ve found myself with a few more of Maria from Forest Charm’s stunning stitch markers and progress keepers than I thought I had - hooray! Several of these sold very quickly in my update at the beginning of the month, so if you had your eye on a specific set and missed out, now may be your second chance…
Last Posting Dates
My shop will close for the winter on Tuesday 20th December. However, Royal Mail workers are currently taking industrial action which I fully support, though it does mean that both UK and international orders are taking a bit longer than usual: I recommend allowing as much extra time as you can. Below are my cut-off dates as a guideline - if you don’t see your location listed please check the Royal Mail website (and add a day or two!) to be sure:
Australia and New Zealand - Wednesday 30th November
Mainland Europe - Tuesday 6th December
United States and Canada - Friday 9th December
UK - Monday 19th December
Popping up at The Fat Quarter
This Friday, December 2nd, I’ll be hanging out with Rachel of Daughter of a Shepherd at a very special festive pop-up in Banbury, Oxford. The event will be hosted at The Fat Quarter fabric shop, so there will be yarns, fabrics and gifts galore on offer, as well as the full range of my mushroom stickers and goodies. If you’re in the area please do come along and share some mince pies with us to welcome in the season.
Aaaand finally, if you want to see a first glimpse of the new house, there’s a video up on my Patreon where you can see my new cosy crafting nook, and what projects I’ve been working on in a few moments of calm behind the scenes…
Thanks for reading, for being here and for supporting my work in whatever-which-way (reading this counts!). I’m so grateful to be able to share this next chapter of my creative adventure with you.
Katie (& Jack of course)
Hello from Wales / Helo o Gymru!
Hello Katie :) What a beautiful view from your new home. It is absolutely charming! You must have a little pinch in the heart to have moved from the beautiful park of Dartmoor, but the Brecon Beacons should flourish you just as much. Good luck and great adventure!
P.S. : I bought the "Fairy Ring socks" pattern!! :D I will knit them in the winter, if a small Christmas package filled with wool appears under the tree. ^^
